Focus urged for harvest campaign in Belarus

ORSHA, 9 August (BelTA) - The nationwide teleconference on harvesting provided a good stimulus for local authorities, head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova told the media. On 8 August she introduced new Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee Alexander Poznyak to the local administration.

“We have a good harvest this year. We must clear the harvest in the shortest possible time to ensure the country’s food security and have stocks for export,” Natalya Kochanova said.

“The teleconference has undoubtedly provided a good stimulus for all managers. Back then we heard that 30% of the equipment was not ready for the harvest campaign. Now the situation is quite different. This suggests that managers need to take a more responsible approach. The government instructed that all the farm machinery should be ready in June. Why are we waiting for any more instructions? Every instruction that the president gave during the nationwide teleconference is a must for implementation by every agricultural company and local authorities. The assigned tasks should be accomplished as soon as possible. This is a matter of honor,” the head of the administration said.

At a special session on 8 August the Orsha District Council of Deputies confirmed the appointment of Alexander Poznyak as Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee. Alexander Poznyak served as President’s Aide – Inspector on Vitebsk Oblast before he was appointed head of Orsha District.
