FM sees relations between leaders as essential for Belarusian-Russian ties

MOSCOW, 10 June (BelTA) - Relations between the leaders of the countries are essential for building Belarusian-Russian ties, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said during the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on 10 June, BelTA learned.

Maksim Ryzhenkov recalled that last year the presidents of Belarus and Russia met on 12 occasions and had 11 telephone conversations. This year, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin have already met three times and spoke 11 times over the phone. “This speaks to a very serious dynamics of relations. The leaders keep their finger on the pulse, and exchange views on a broad international agenda,” he said.

Maksim Ryzhenkov also lauded the coordination between the foreign ministries of the two countries. “The degree of coordination of our actions is simply unmatched if we look at other states,” he said.

Maksim Ryzhenkov noted that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs maintain close cooperation. “We are trying to keep up with our leaders,” the Belarusian foreign minister stressed.
