FM: Belarus’ stance on Ukraine is to stop bloodshed, start talks

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Minsk’s position on the conflict in Ukraine remains unequivocal: the bloodshed must stop and negotiations must begin, BelTA learned from Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov.

“Minsk’s position is unequivocal: the bloodshed must stop and negotiations must begin,” he emphasized, adding that the Hungarian side holds a similar position.

“We are interested not in a short-term truce, a temporary ceasefire, but in the swift establishment of a stable and lasting peace that will guarantee a prosperous future for the whole Europe,” the foreign minister stated.

The minister noted that for years, Belarus has been promoting peaceful initiatives on various platforms, highlighting to the international community the urgent need to restore the architecture of European security together.

“We strive for a truly independent, good-neighborly, economically developed, spiritually rich and culturally diverse European space,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.
