Finnish minister names promising areas in Belarus for investment

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Energy and retail trade are among the promising areas for investment in Belarus, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Kai Mykkanen said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Let us take energy for instance. This is the sector which provides real opportunities for investing. Retail trade has a big potential as well. A lot of Finnish products are sold in St Petersburg. We should do more in Minsk to make our products recognizable,” said Kai Mykkanen.

The minister said that Finland expects proposals on supplies of Belarusian raw material and food products. “I have not received such proposals yet, but I think that the administrations of other levels are negotiating the matters. I know that Belarus has a lot of resources in these sectors,” he said.

In his words, Finland may be interested in Belarusian mechanical engineering and IT services.
