Egypt hopes to open embassy in Minsk soon

SAINT PETERSBURG, 14 October (BelTA) – Egypt hopes to open the embassy in Minsk in the near future, Speaker of the Egyptian parliament Ali Abdel Aal said as he met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich on the sidelines of the 137th IPU Assembly in Saint Petersburg on 14 October, BelTA has learned.

“As for the opening of the Egyptian embassy in Minsk, it is very important for us. We are interested in the implementation of this project,” the speaker of the Egyptian parliament said.

In his words, at present there are no problems and obstacles on the way to the opening of the embassy in the Belarusian capital city except one – the economic situation in Egypt. “But we hope that the situation will improve in the near future, and we will be able to fulfill our plans,” Ali Abdel Aal said.

He also said that he hopes for the development of relations between the parliaments of the two countries and invited Mikhail Myasnikovich to pay a visit to Egypt. “We are interested in the comprehensive development of the parliamentary relations,” the speaker concluded.
