Davydko: Abolition of visas between Belarus and Israel is a manifestation of absolute trust

MINSK, 30 November(BelTA) – The abolition of visas between Belarus and Israel for holders of national passports is a manifestation of absolute trust and a demonstration of friendly relations between the two countries, Chairman of the National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus Gennady Davydko said during the TV show Club of Editors on the Belarus 1 TV channel on 29 November, BelTA has learned.

“The abolition of visas is a landmark event for Belarusian citizens. It seems that there is no country in the world that cares about its security more than Israel does. And in the current unstable international situation, this country abolishes visas for Belarusians. This is an unprecedented case. Moreover, this is a manifestation of respect towards Belarus,” Gennady Davydko emphasized.

He believes that the introduction of a visa-free regime between Belarus and Israel is a result of progress in the diplomatic relations between the two states.

Editor-in-Chief of the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper Pavel Yakubovich said that Belarus and Israel share strong long-standing spiritual bonds. There are no intolerance and anti-Semitism in Belarus. Pavel Yakubovich expressed hope that the Israeli government will take these factors into consideration while making a decision about the future of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Minsk.

The Belarus-Israel visa-free travel agreement entered into force on 26 November 2015. The countries agreed to reserve the right to deny the entry to citizens considered undesirable or reduce the time of their stay in the country. This one-year agreement will be automatically prolonged for further one-year periods.
