MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - China highly regards cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said at the Belarusian-Chinese business forum Sail of Shanghai, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat emphasized that nowadays the Belarusian-Chinese relations are the closest for the 26-year period of diplomatic relations between the two states. Both political and trade-economic interaction is strong. This is the great merit of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the ambassador noted.

It is important that the political and economic situation has been stable in Belarus, Cui Qiming drew the attention of the Shanghai guests. The country has a good industrial potential, well-developed processing industry, rapidly growing construction sector.

China is interested in developing trade, economic and investment ties with Belarus, the diplomat said. He told the participants about the great role of Shanghai in carrying out the reform and opening up policy in China, and in implementing the Belt and Road initiative.

The Belarusian-Chinese business forum Sail of Shanghai is held in the run-up to the first China International Import Expo (will open in Shanghai on 5-10 November). Belarus will take part in this expo among the other 130 countries and 2800 enterprises. The organizers expect more than 150,000 Chinese and foreign visitors to attend it.
