Cui Qiming: Belarus, China should unite efforts for innovative development of national economies

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarus and China should unite their efforts for innovative development of national economies, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said at a plenary meeting of the Belarus-China Youth Innovation Forum New Horizons 2015 on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

“Innovations are a soul of the progress of any state, the main driving force in economic development. Over many years China has been aimed at building an innovative society. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko mentioned in his latest speech the need to develop the innovative economy in Belarus, the knowledge-based economy,” said Cui Qiming.

In his words, the goal of the innovative development strategy is similar for the two countries. “We should unite our efforts and move forward to the innovatively-oriented state. We pin great hopes in achieving the preset goals on the new generation, including young scientists that are present here today,” said the Ambassador.

Cui Qiming also reminded the participants of the meeting that Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Belarus in May 2015. The visit added a new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation at a higher level. The visit also opened a new page in strengthening and expanding the Belarusian-Chinese partnership, including in education, science and technology, culture, economy, trade and other areas. The current forum, according to the Ambassador, is an important and inseparable part of this new page in the history of bilateral cooperation.

The organizers of the youth innovation forum New Horizons 2015 include the Education Ministry of Belarus and the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), the BNTU Confucius Institute, the BNTU technological cluster Politechnik. Partaking in the organization of the forum on China’s behalf is the Ministry of Science and technology, the Ministry of Education, the Main Department of Confucius Institutes in China (Hanban), the government of Henan and Heilongjiang Provinces, Shenyang Northeastern University.
