MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – There are all necessary conditions to expand cooperation between Cuba and Belarus, Cuba President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA ahs learned.

“The current vibrant exchange has political prerequisites and is based on historical friendship between our peoples. Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and Aleksandr Lukashenko played a very important role in it. Our economies are complementary,” said Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez. For example, Cuba imports Belarus’ mechanical engineering products and fertilizers, while Belarus purchases Cuban biotechnological products and medicines.

“We pay great attention to Belarus’ best practices in agriculture. There is also interest in developing electric transport. Tourism, educational programs, research projects, and equipment modernization were discussed at the meetings in Minsk. There are all the necessary conditions to expand cooperation. We would also like to see Belarusian investment in our country,” the Cuban leader added.

In his words, the countries need to develop contacts in culture and sport, which also unites the nations.

Belarus became one of the first states which Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez visited in the capacity of the president of Cuba. In his words, the meeting with the Belarusian head of state was very friendly. The presidents discussed a wide range of issues related to the multilateral and regional agendas and confirmed readiness to develop the Belarusian-Cuban cooperation.

Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed satisfaction with his visit to Belarus. “Cuba will always be a good friend to you,” he stressed.
