Cuban ambassador outlines cooperation prospects with Belarus

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Cuba have significant potential for cooperation in healthcare, science, and humanitarian projects, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Pérez Benítez said during a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on 11 June, BelTA has learned.

"It is always very beneficial and pleasant for me to visit the Council of the Republic and meet with Natalya Ivanovna [Kochanova]," the diplomat said.

The meeting focused on identifying new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. "We are friends, we are brothers. We just need to define niches for our interaction," the ambassador stated. He noted that both countries have great potential, particularly in healthcare and science, including joint developments, sales of medicines, and humanitarian initiatives.

According to him, the parties also discussed youth and women’s organizations, exchange programs, patriotic education, and cooperation in tourism and health resort treatment. "It is always easy and pleasant to communicate with Belarusian parliamentarians, as we hold similar positions on protecting sovereignty and independence," Ambassador Santiago Pérez Benítez emphasized.
