China views Great Stone project in Belarus as important

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – China attaches great importance to the Great Stone Industrial Park project in Belarus, Liu Xuesong, Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Belarus, said at a press conference on 4 March, BelTA has learned.

The Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone is China’s biggest industrial park outside the country. The construction of the infrastructure with the total area of 3.5 square meters was launched in March 2015.

“The industrial park has been designed taking into account the construction and management of China's Suzhou Industrial Park which is based on the latest technology, advanced production and services,” said the diplomat.

In his words, in late 2015 the number of companies accredited in the park reached 25. Eight of them received resident company certificates.

The park draws attention and personal participation of the leaders of the two countries. During his trip to Belarus in May 2015 Chinese President Xi Jinping together with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko paid a visit to the industrial park. The two leaders put their signatures on the park development map.

“The governments of the two countries will invest their best efforts in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park to become an important part of the Silk Road Economic Belt project, “a green engine” of the social and economic development of Belarus. The park will serve as an important production platform aimed at the markets of the CIS and the EU,” said Liu Xuesong.
