Chernik: Belarus and Russia enjoy close cooperation in culture

MOSCOW, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia enjoy close cooperation in every area of culture, Belarus’ Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik said during a briefing in Moscow on 21 June ahead of the opening of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Russia, BelTA has learned.

“We have the closest cooperation in the cultural sector, almost in every of its areas: museums, libraries, arts and crafts, cinematography, joint festivals,” said Vasily Chernik. Every year Belarus hosts more than a hundred of various festivals, competitions and other events and Russian performers take part in the majority of them. In a couple of days the Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk festival will welcome a big delegation of Russian singers and performers. “Belarusian performing bands also like to tour Russian cities,” the deputy minister said.

In turn, Russian Deputy Culture Minister Alla Manilova noted that the Days of Culture is a well-known format of cultural exchanges, which organization is envisaged in a three-year agreement on cooperation between the Culture Ministries of the two countries. The Days of Russian Culture in Belarus will take place next year. Their program is under consideration.

The official opening ceremony of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Russia will take place at the Bolshoi Theater on 21 June. The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus will present its calling card of the past years – the ballet Vitaut. The lobby of the Bolshoi Theater will host a photo exhibition of the BelTA News Agency “Union State – The Unity of Peoples, Cultures, Countries”. The exposition will feature 30 works telling about the different spheres of life in the Union State.
