MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – By pooling their potentials, Belarus and Thailand can increase their competitive ability on global markets. The opinion was voiced by Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, during the first Belarusian-Thai business forum in Bangkok, the press service of the lower chamber of the Belarus parliament told BelTA.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that Thailand is a key partner for Belarus in Southeast Asia. The Thai side also demonstrates serious interest in Belarus. The invigoration of the political dialogue at the high and top levels and the enhancement of economic ties testify to that.

“By pooling our potentials, we will be able to considerably increase the competitive ability of our countries on global markets. Belarus’ and Thailand’s membership in large integration associations like the Eurasian Economic Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will contribute to it,” said the head of the lower chamber of the Belarus parliament.

During a recent official visit members of the Thai delegation were made familiar with five Belarusian industrial enterprises. According to Vladimir Andreichenko, the practice should be expanded. “It would be advisable to arrange a visit of representatives of Thai business circles to Belarus so that they could learn about our country’s capabilities in detail and establish the necessary contacts on the spot,” believes the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.

Vladimir Andreichenko said he hopes that meetings of businessmen will become regular and will be mutually beneficial. “Belarusian MPs will do their best to enable the most favorable conditions for doing business, developing tourism and cultural cooperation. In the end all these efforts will contribute to higher living standards and the spiritual enrichment of our nations,” he added.

A delegation of the Belarus parliament is in Thailand on a visit on 14-18 March. The press service of the lower chamber of the Belarus parliament told BelTA that on 17 March Vladimir Andreichenko also met with the head of the Thai Frozen Foods Association (TFFA). During the meeting Vladimir Andreichenko was informed about the association's areas of operation in detail.

The sides exchanged opinions about the possibility of the Association’s cooperation with Belarusian food manufacturers. Both sides expressed confidence that the meeting will help advance Belarus-Thailand cooperation in agriculture and food industry.

Representatives of the Thai Frozen Foods Association said they would like to visit Belarus to take part in an agricultural expo.
