CHECHERSK, 29 April (BelTA) - Belarusians have built their own state and it must be appreciated and protected, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he talked to residents of Chechersk District on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

"The first thing that I credit our people and myself is that we have built our independent sovereign state for the first time in history. If people work hard, then they live well. They live differently, I understand. But there are those who live well," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He cited the example of a local agricultural enterprise, Otor, which he visited during a working trip. According to the head of state, the average salary on the farm is about Br1,800. "So, you can make good money," the head of state said.

"Therefore, when I innumerate our accomplishments  in recent years the first thing that I mention is that we have built our state. It must be cherished, it must be protected, no matter the cost. We must be cautious not to get caught up in some trouble. The main thing is to avoid war, like our people have always said. You see what is going very close to our border," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
