Belarusian-Chinese public welfare housing construction program praised

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – The project to build public welfare housing in Belarus using China’s technical and economic aid is one of the successful examples of cooperation. The relevant statement was made by Belarusian First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Alexander Kruchanov during the ceremony held in Minsk on 24 October to launch the second stage of the program on building public welfare housing using technical and economic aid from the Chinese government, BelTA has learned.

The public welfare housing construction program includes three stages. Alexander Kruchanov described the program as important. The apartments will be leased to socially vulnerable population strata while the municipal government will retain ownership.

It is not the first Belarusian-Chinese joint project, said Alexander Kruchanov. He said it is important that the first stage of the program has been completed, with 16 public welfare houses built. “It is very important that we help each other and successfully implement joint projects,” he noted.

In turn, Minsk Vice Mayor Viktor Laptev stressed that the Belarusian capital city maintains close contacts with Chinese partners. The city’s infrastructure gets better thanks to the implementation of joint projects. An 80-apartment public welfare house will be commissioned in 2019. The construction of public welfare houses is an important direction in the city’s development.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming underlined the mutual nature of China’s and Belarus’ support for each other. He noted that Belarus had provided aid to China in the wake of devastating earthquakes.
