Belarus President: Women’s movement is important for promoting family values

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to Belarusian women as the country celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian Union of Women, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Over the years your public association united over 170,000 people and became the most popular women’s organization in Belarus with a strong international authority,” the head of state noted.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that apart from the most important mission to protect hearth and home, be loving mothers and wives, Belarusian women have an opportunity to build their careers and take an active part in the life of the country. “You play a crucial role in such significant areas as the economy, education, healthcare, science, culture. You make a big contribution to bringing up children, supporting elderly people and families with many children, ensuring political stability,” the President believes.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the development of the women’s movement, the expansion of social partnership with the government and public institutions have a big importance for such essentials as raising the social status of women, the preservation and promotion of traditional family values.
