Belarus interested in Polish expertise in promoting rural business

Belarus interested in Polish expertise in promoting rural business

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Belarus takes an interest in Poland’s practices to stimulate business in rural communities, Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Turchin said as he met with UN Resident Coordinator, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki, BelTA has learned.

Addressing the diplomat, Alexander Turchin noted: “The government upholds the initiatives that you put forward. We are satisfied with our cooperation, but we should move forward. I suggest discussing areas of common interest”.

Promotion of entrepreneurship, in particular in rural communities, is one of priority tasks in Belarus. “We are working to upgrade the entrepreneurship support program. It is very interesting and important for us to study Poland’s practices in boosting employment in the regions with no large-scale industries and with the lack of jobs. Apart from that, Belarus prioritizes the development of information technologies. It is important for us to get useful information about this economic sector, too” Alexander Turchin said.

Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki noted: “I am enjoying my time in Belarus. My colleagues and I will focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda”.

Attending the meeting were Belarus’ Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan and Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Matusevich.
