Belagro hailed as showcase of Belarusian agriculture industry

 MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The international agriculture expo Belagro 2019 and other activities of the Belarusian Agriculture Industry Week is a showcase of the achievements of Belarusian manufactures of farm machines, Belarus Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko told the media on the margins of Belagro 2019, BelTA has learned.

“The Belarusian Agriculture Industry Week features the latest achievements of the Belarusian agricultural sector. The exhibition displays products of the processing industry, technical and technological potential of the agrarian sector based on new achievements of the domestic and foreign mechanical engineering. Belarus has a lot to show its foreign visitors,” said Anatoly Khotko.

The minister stressed that the Belarusian agro-industrial complex is building on the momentum. “The national agro-industrial complex satisfies the domestic needs in full and is also considered to be an export-oriented sector. In per capita agricultural output Belarus is the CIS leader across the absolute majority of agricultural products. Innovative approaches to technological processes help increase the annual agricultural output. Measures are in place to improve the cattle breeding infrastructure. The majority of commercial dairy farms, pig and livestock breeding complexes, poultry farms have been upgraded and equipped with the latest technology. About 1,500 agro-towns have been set up. An estimated 52,000 houses have been built in the rural area. Social conditions for rural people have been considerably improved,” Anatoly Khotko said.

According to Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin, 14 companies of the Industry Ministry are showcasing more than 100 types of machinery at the exhibition. For example, Bobruiskagromash has displayed modernized agricultural vehicles: fodder blenders, pickup presses and others. The exposition of Amkodor Holding Company includes a tracked bulldozer, a motor grader, an excavator and auto-loaders. On display are also products of such companies as MAZ, MTZ and Gomselmash.

About 50 organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are taking part in Belagro. They are showcasing more than 200 technologies for crop farming, agriculture engineering, food production, potato growing, cattle breeding and others. “The Belagro expo has become a brand of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex. Here we can demonstrate our latest technologies, discuss cooperation, outline prospects,” said Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov. 

Belagro 2019 expo is underway at the Globus Park trade and logistics center in Shchomyslitsa, Minsk District, on 4-9 June. More than 550 companies from 29 countries are taking part in the expo (Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Israel, India, Italy, Spain, Canada, China, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Sweden).

Its organizer is Minskexpo, co-organizer is IFW-expo. The exhibition is organized with the support and participation of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Industry Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences. The open-air part of Belagro 2019 showcases modern agricultural machines (over 300 samples). These include machines to apply fertilizers and plant protection agents and to harvest grain and forage crops, machines for reclamation, cultivation and harvesting of potatoes and vegetables. Agricultural products, machines and equipment are on show as part of the technological chain alongside modern energy-saving technologies for all sectors associated with production, processing, transporting, and storage.

Belagro 2019 is held as part of the Belarusian Agriculture Industry Week and is co-located with international exhibitions Belferma, Belprodukt, Prodmash. Kholod. Upak.
