Azeri Economy Minister: Belarusian goods enjoy great demand in Azerbaijan

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – Belarusian goods enjoy great demand in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said during the Belarus-Azerbaijan business meeting in Minsk on 16 December.

“Belarusian goods are in great demand in Azerbaijan. People queue up for them at our shops. Belarus knows how to make high-quality products able to withstand price competition,” Shahin Mustafayev noted.

The minister pointed out that the relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan in politics, social and economic sectors are rapidly developing. “The presidents have tasked our economic agencies with raising the mutual trade to $700 million. We seek to develop cooperation in different areas. Our delegation includes representatives of the largest holding companies of Azerbaijan who are ready for cooperation,” Shahin Mustafayev stressed.

The official pointed out that a trading house of Azerbaijan will be set up in Belarus. “We are choosing the best way to implement this project. Naturally, we will start with the capital city and then open shops across Belarus. The trading house will help us boost the trade between our countries,” he said. The minister also showed interest in strengthening investment cooperation with Belarus. He noted that the countries are considering a project to build a joint venture to produce pharmaceuticals in Baku.

Representatives of Belarusian and Azerbaijani companies will hold talks on cooperation in food industry, manufacture of tobacco products, carpets and woolen items, livestock products, and opening of meat and dairy farms.

The Belarus-Azerbaijan business meeting was organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation.
