“Belarus seeks good neighborly relations with not only the former USSR member states. We extend the hand of kindness and peace to all the countries. We do our best for the future generations to build up a new world without wars and conflicts,” said Lilia Ananich.

Minsk is hosting the conference Science and Culture in Modern Discourse on 2 December. Partaking in the forum are Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian experts. The event has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences, the State Institute for International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute for Eurasian Studies with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.

"Our countries need to move towards each other. Cultural and scientific projects are the thin threads that bind Belarus, Russia and Ukraine together. Belarus again hosts peace discussions but this time in a humanitarian dimension. Without spiritual bonds we cannot move forward,” the Information Minister said.

According to Lilia Ananich, in today's world, where political processes are sometimes unpredictable and conflicts often escalate into military confrontation, it is very important to find initiatives to continue the dialogue however difficult it might be. "Sooner or later conflicts and wars end, wounds heal. But today we have do everything we can to minimize the effects of conflicts and make sure that future generations of all nations live in peace,” she noted.

The conference consists of three discussion panels on the key areas of social and cultural discourse in the post-Soviet states: "25 years of independence. The areas of social and cultural discourse in the Eastern European countries of the former USSR,” "The image of others and its correction in modern realities", "Possible areas and special features of modern discourse."
