Ambassador: Romania appreciates Belarus’ active participation in EaP

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Holding the current EU presidency Romania appreciates the active participation of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership program, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Belarus Viorel Mosanu said at the event dedicated to the official launch of the EU Romanian Presidency, BelTA has learned.

“During its presidency in the EU Romania will support the European Union's commitment to cooperation with Belarus on the basis of common interests and values. We will continue working as before, together with all interested parties in Minsk in order to ensure the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, and stable and prosperous future for its people. Romania appreciates the active participation of Belarus in the Eastern partnership program,” the diplomat said. He noted that given the geographical proximity to the EU, this is particularly important for Romania as the country who is holding the current presidency in the EU.

Romania has identified priorities for its presidency in the European Union Council which are based on four pillars: Europe of convergence; A safer Europe; Europe as a stronger global actor; Europe of common values.
