Ambassador: China places high priority on cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – China attaches much significance to strengthening cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said at a ceremony held in Minsk on 21 March to award the winners of the Belarusian-Chinese essay competition, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed as important the timing of the essay competition, Belarusian-Chinese Cooperation. My Vision of the Silk Road and the Great Stone Industrial Park, with the celebration of 25 years of the diplomatic relations between China and Belarus.

“Since the moment the diplomatic relations between China and Belarus were established on 20 January 1992, the two countries have been steadily developing bilateral cooperation. The visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Belarus in May 2015 was especially successful and rich in results. The visit was of great importance and added impetus for the two countries to take bilateral relations onto a new level. The Chinese-Belarusian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership have been successfully evolving, promoting development in every area,” said the Ambassador.

The diplomat noted that the Belarusian authorities are placing high emphasis on strengthening the relations with China: “Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree to boost the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation. Both sides have been bolstering support to each other. The governments of the two countries have been strengthening mutual political trust. Pragmatic cooperation has been steadily developing.”

The creative competition, Belarus-China Cooperation. My Vision of the Silk Road and the Great Stone Industrial Park, was organized by the international radio station Belarus of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company together with the Chinese Embassy, the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and the Confucius Institute for Sinology of the Belarusian State University. The competition was held as part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations. Around 60 works were submitted in Russian, Belarusian, and Chinese languages from Belarus, China, Poland, and Ukraine. Twelve people were named as the winners of the essay contest.

The Bugayev family from Vitebsk were among the winners of the competition. Head of the educational work department at the Vitebsk State Technological University Marina Bugayeva, second-year student at the law department of the Masherov Vitebsk State University Yelena Bugayeva, and also Aleksei Bugayev wrote three essays about the friendship between Belarus and China.
