Ambassador: China appreciates Belarus’ contribution to settlement of existing conflicts

MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – China appreciates the contribution of Belarus to the settlement of existing conflicts, China’s Ambassador to Belarus Cui Qiming said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel on 18 May, BelTA informs.

“We appreciate the support of Belarus and President Alexander Lukashenko of our international diplomacy aimed at maintaining peace and stability. Moreover, Belarus itself acts as the organizer of the new-quality international diplomacy, in particular by hosting and promoting the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict,” the ambassador noted.

Cui Qiming stressed that the Chinese government and people highly value Belarus’ contribution to the settlement of existing conflicts. “We share common views and approaches in the international arena, and I am sure that China and Belarus will continue to safeguard peace, stability and sustainable development in Eurasia and worldwide,” the diplomat said.

He also noted that the large-scale Belt and Road economic and infrastructure project has become a new diplomatic concept declared by China President Xi Jinping. “Together with our partners we intend to build such political relations, economy and diplomacy that will lead to sustainable peace and harmonious development,” the ambassador said.

Cui Qiming expressed confidence that the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Qingdao will further enhance the international influence of this organization and make a new contribution to the development of a new type of international relations and building a community of common destiny.
