Abdel Fattah el-Sisi: Egypt is determined to expand cooperation with Belarus

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi: Egypt is determined to expand cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – There is a strong political will in Egypt to expand and strengthen cooperation with Belarus, Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said as he met with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 18 June, BelTA has learned.

The Egyptian leader assured that the agreements reached during the visit of the Belarusian head of state to Egypt in 2017 are being implemented. “We will keep implementing them. We have a strong political will to expand and strengthen cooperation between our countries,” he emphasized.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi shared Aleksandr Lukashenko’s view that the existing level of cooperation is out of keeping with the potential. “What we have achieved in our relations is not a limit. It falls short of our expectations and aspirations. We expect the ongoing visit to give an impetus to bilateral cooperation across all the matters on today’s agenda,” the Egyptian president said. In his words, the parties are set to sign an agreement on setting up a business cooperation council and a cooperation roadmap for 2019-2020 in order to give a boost to cooperation.

The Egyptian head of state thanked the Belarusian president for the warm welcome and hospitality and congratulated the country on the opportunity to host the 2nd European Games and wished many successes in this regard.
