Youth unions of Belarus, Russia sign agreement on cooperation

SOCHI, 17 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian national youth union BRSM and the Russian Union of Youth signed an agreement on cooperation on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

The agreement was signed during the workshop Youth in Self-Government Development System in the area of Civil Platform at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students. Participants discussed self-government development practices aimed at the involvement of the youth in different countries.

Chairman of the Russian Union of Youth Pavel Krasnorutsky was the moderator of the event. Among the main speakers was head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Alexander Bugayev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s Standing Commission on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Andrei Belyakov, Deputy Director of the Youth Development Department of the All-China Youth Federation Rang Hao.

The workshop elaborated proposals for the final document of the World Festival of Youth and Students. These are recommendations to involve young people in the self-government development system, to develop the united electronic database that will include the best practices of developing self-government systems among the youth from different countries.

The World Festival of Youth and Students 2017, which will be held on 14-22 October, is going to be the biggest youth event. More than 20,000 people from 150 countries are expected to take part in the festival. The symbol of the festival is a colorful daisy, a symbol of the continuity of traditions, link between the generations, peace and unity of the international community. The main element is colored pixels as a sign of similarity of the youth in the information age. The festival aims to consolidate the youth, promote inter-ethnic and intercultural interaction.
