Vietnamese government awards Belarusians

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The Vietnamese government has bestowed state awards upon two Belarusians, BelTA has learned.

The award ceremony took place in the House of Friendship in Minsk on 15 August. Chairwoman of the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries Nina Ivanova was awarded an Order of Friendship while her deputy Galina Petkevich received a Medal of Friendship. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Hai Pham underlined that the awards marked the contribution of the grassroots diplomats to stronger solidarity, friendship, and Belarus-Vietnam cooperation. “The envoys of grassroots diplomacy advance the bilateral relations to new heights. By working together, we will achieve new results for the benefit of the two nations,” the ambassador said.

In turn, Nina Ivanova said she was grateful to Vietnam for the appreciation of the work her organization did. She reminded about the deep historical roots of Belarus-Vietnam friendship and cooperation, Belarus-Vietnam mutual support in various periods of history. Deputy Head of the Asia, Australia, and Oceania Office of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Koltsov underlined the huge role grassroots diplomacy plays in advancing interaction between Belarus and Vietnam. In his words, warm and friendly relations have been established between the two countries. Good dynamics of comprehensive cooperation is observed. Dmitry Koltsov also mentioned the great potential of bilateral relations.

Chairman of the Belarus-Vietnam Society Mikhail Vinogradov drew attention to the importance of the fact that representatives of the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries had been awarded by the Vietnamese government. In his opinion, the awards represented due appreciation of many years of meticulous work the grassroots diplomats do.
