Thousands to attend Ivan Kupala Festival in AlexandriaSHKLOV DISTRICT, 16 June (BelTA) - Over 100,000 guests and participants are expected to attend the Ivan Kupala Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends), which will be held in the agro-town of Alexandria, Shklov District, on 8-9 July, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Zharko told BelTA as he commented on the visiting session of the national organizing headquarters.

"The festival promises an eventful program full of various creative projects and musical programs. A circus and variety show Kupala Dream featuring performers from foreign countries will be rhe draw of the festival. The festival has already become an important event in the cultural life of the country and gained wide popularity. It is expected that more than 100,000 people will attend, the same as it was last year," Vasily Zharko said. "Everything is done for the event to be held at a high organizational level, and for participants and guests to feel comfortable and safe," said Vasily Zharko.

According to Belarus Culture Minister Boris Svetlov, over 1,000 performers will be involved in concert projects and programs this year. At present, rehearsals are underway. The preparations for the circus and variety show Kupala Dream continue. Its working version will be shown at the Belarusian State Circus on 29 June. Its dress rehearsal will be held in Alexandria on 7 July. Over 60% of tickets have already been sold for the show. Guests of the festival will also be treated to a festival of fireworks and a laser show.

The educational quest "In search of a fern flower" will be held in Alexandria for the first time. A special competition will determine the winner in making Kupala wreaths.

The City of Friendship will be divided into four main streets, namely International, National, Skarbnitsa Padnyaproya, and Trading ones.

The festivities will be traditionally held in a picturesque place on the bank of the Dnieper River, near the bridge that connects not only two towns - Alexandria and Kopys, but also two regions - Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast.
