Spring in Gomel exhibition to showcase Days of Moldovan Culture, food festival

GOMEL, 2 May (BelTA) – The program of the international exhibition Spring in Gomel on 23-26 May will include the Days of Moldovan Culture and a food festival, Head of the Gomel Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marina Filonova said at a press briefing on 2 May, BelTA has learned.

A large-scale exhibition will open on the premises of the Track and Field Athletics Palace and will run under the general concept “Gomel Oblast is Your Partner”. The exhibition aims to showcase the economic and investment capacities of the region, its special features and traditions.

“Initially, the Spring in Gomel exhibition was meant to be a universal exhibition to present consumer goods to a large audience. However, it has become not merely an exhibition but an important event. We demonstrate Gomel Oblast economic achievements by displaying large vehicles and product samples of our plants. We also organize a folk crafts festival to show that we carefully preserve traditions of our region,” Marina Filonova said. This year, the Gomel Spring crafts festival will bring together around 200 craftsmen who will display their works at a 1,500 m2 territory. It is estimated that the exhibition will occupy a total area of around 5,500 m2.

The exhibition grows larger year on year. “We add more details to show our region from a different perspective to make people want to return here,” Marina Filonova noted. This year, the program includes open-air concerts of Gomel bands on 24-25 May. Gourmands will be welcome to attend the Tasty Spring food festival which will be held in seven restaurants on 20-26 May. This year’s specialty will be the Days of Moldovan Culture in Gomel Oblast.

“We hope that this event will draw attention to the exhibition and leave all visitors satisfied,” Marina Filonova remarked.

So far, 19 foreign delegations from 13 countries including India and Kazakhstan have confirmed their participation in the Spring in Gomel exhibition. Applications are still open. The business agenda of the exhibition includes over 50 events that will span across B2B zone, a presentation site with an LED screen, and a conference hall with multimedia equipment. These facilities will give participants one more opportunity to introduce their products and services to the international business audience, find domestic and foreign partners, establish commercial relations, hold dialogues with representatives of state bodies and local authorities.

The Gomel Economic Forum and the Spring in Gomel international exhibition are the biggest events in Belarus’ south-eastern part. In 2018, the exhibition occupied over 5,000 m2 and displayed the latest product samples of 300 plants and organizations of Gomel Oblast as well as joint stands of foreign participants. Last year, over 30,000 people from 32 countries visited the exhibition.

The Gomel Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support from the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee traditionally act as organizers of the Spring in Gomel exhibition. The forum was first held in 2000.
