Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk 2020

Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk 2020

The 29th edition of the International Arts Festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be held from 16 to 19 July in a new format and could become one of Europe's largest open air festivals. According to the organizers, this year the festival will engage the whole city: all the events will be staged in the streets and in large outdoor areas.

The main venue of the festival is the Summer Amphitheater. It will host seven largest events of the Slavianski Bazaar. These are the opening and closing ceremonies, the International Song Contest, which this year will be held in a slightly different format. It will feature young singers from 18 countries. Visitors will be invited to celebrate the Union State Day with the screening of the best films from different years at the Summer Amphitheater. The program will also include the Golden Hit gala concert, the Chanson TV – All Stars project and a big rock music night. Solo concerts were canceled in 2020. All popular singers will take part in gala concerts.

A new festival venue will be set up near the Vitebsk Concert Hall. The stage will feature LED screens, scenographic structures, and stalls. The main event that the venue will host will be the children’s song contest that will feature representatives of 21 countries.

Victory Square in Vitebsk – the largest square in Belarus – will host youth events of the festival again.

Another new venue will be Mazurino Park in the suburbs of Vitebsk that will host a large-scale car audio festival.

A popular event of the Slavianski Bazaar festival – the street art fest On Seven Winds – will also be held mainly in the streets. Performances and concerts of the fest will take place in the vicinity of Pushkinskaya Square.

Events in the yard of the philharmonic will celebrate classical arts. This venue will also play host to a series of performances of the Lyalka doll theater.

Note! The Slavianski Bazaar organizers strongly urge concert goers not to bring flowers as contact with artists will be limited this year over the pandemic. Instead, they invite everyone to take part in the Bouquet of Kindness charity event and transfer money to a special account instead of buying flowers.
