School student from Minsk wins Union State competition 21st Century Talents

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Danila Yeliseyev, a ninth grade student of Gymnasium No.6 of Minsk, has been named overall winner of the Belarus-Russia Union State science and technology competition “21st Century Talents”, BelTA learned from the organizers of the competition.

The student presented his project “Assembling a 3D Printer Yourself” in the design engineering section. The project was recognized as the best in the section. Andrei Palaguta, a school student from Russia’s Stavropol Krai, was also named overall winner. His project “Making a Model of Project 58 Missile Cruiser Varyag” took first place in the engineering simulation section.

The results of the competition “21st Century Talents” hosted by the Belarusian national children’s education and recreation center Zubryonok were announced on 17 May. Eight Belarusian and 15 Russian teams took part in the contest.

Some 300 young researchers, innovators, inventors, astronomers, and software engineers aged 14 to 18 submitted their projects for evaluation by a team of experts.

The projects were presented in eight sections: engineering simulation; design engineering; radioelectronics, teleautomatics, automatics, robotic science; scientific research, experiment, energy saving solutions; multimedia technologies; software engineering and computer science; astronomy and space science; videofilm.

The competition “21st Century Talents” was organized by the Union State Standing Committee, the Belarusian Education Ministry, and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. It is held once every two years.
