Russia announces big cultural projects in Belarus in 2019-2021

MOSCOW, 12 April (BelTA) – Exhibitions of Russia’s famous museums and performances by Russia’s leading theater companies and musicians will feed into Belarus’ vibrant cultural scene in 2019-2021, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Alla Manilova said at a joint board meeting of the culture ministries of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

According to Alla Manilova, Russia’s biggest museums will start running their exhibition projects in Belarus in 2020. The first of them will be a festival of the State Hermitage Museum in Gomel and a big exhibition of the Tretyakov Gallery in Minsk.

In 2019-2021 Belarus will welcome the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Maly Theater, Natalia Sats Children's Musical Theater, Obraztsov Puppet Theater and other theater companies. Apart from that, Lev Leshchenko will perform in all the oblast capitals of Belarus, while the Turetsky Choir will give a concert in Minsk in the run-up to the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invaders.

Taking part in the joint board meeting were Russia’s Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky and Belarus’ Minister of Culture Yuri Bondar. The parties discussed implementation of a joint cooperation plan between the culture ministries of the two countries for 2019-2021, preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2020, as well as matters of education and exchanges of art students. They also reviewed progress in renovating, restoring and turning into a museum of the Brest Fortress facilities and opening the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier in Tver Oblast.
