Polotsk State University to host German Week on 4-7 October

VITEBSK, 3 October (BelTA) – The German Week will take place at the Polotsk State University on 4-7 October, BelTA learned from the Novopolotsk Town Hall.

German weeks take place in Belarus from 25 September to 24 October. The event aims to enhance cultural, educational, economic, and scientific ties. The Polotsk State University has joined this cultural marathon.

The first event in the program will be the discussion of the students’ project to promote international tourism in Polotsk region and to create an audio guide in the German language “Polotsk Travel Guide” on 4 October. The library of the Polotsk colleium will host a meeting of the working group of students and lecturers who will approve the stages of the project.

On 5 October, the concert hall of the collegium will host a two-day festival of short films ShortsatMoonlight. It will feature the best films included in the program of the annual festival in Mainz. There will also be a lunch concert featuring the music of German composers (a joint project of the Polotsk State University and the Novopolotsk State Music College), a photo exhibition highlighting the history of the university’s cooperation with educational, cultural, and business organizations of Germany.

On 5-6 October Polotsk and Novopolotsk will host meetings with an interesting guest – the representative of Freie Universitat Berlin in MGIMO Tobias Stuedemann.

The program of the German Week will also include a theater production Luise Miller based on Friedrich Schiller's Intrigue and Love.

The German Week is organized by the Polotsk State University, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with the assistance of the German embassy in Belarus.
