Photo exhibition about Red Cross in Belarus opens in Minsk

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – An exhibition of photos by Swiss photographer Stephan Maurer about the activities of Belarus Red Cross opened in Minsk on 9 November, BelTA has learned.

Sixteen emotional works are on display at the National Art Museum of Belarus. The exhibition marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Swiss Red Cross and tells about the nurses of the Belarusian Red Cross Society and volunteers assisting elderly people.

Tatyana Gaplichnik, Swiss Red Cross Country Coordinator for Belarus, noted that the exhibition is devoted to a priority area of the many year’s partnership, which is the provision of assistance and good quality living conditions to the elderly.

The Swiss Red Cross was founded in 1866. It currently operates in 29 countries, including Belarus. Its activities include the promotion of healthy and active aging, organization of home-based medical and social care, prevention of non-communicable diseases, provision of humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable groups of population, and granting of social and medical assistance to displaced persons from Ukraine.

Olga Mychko, Secretary-General of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, thanked the Swiss partners for cooperation and presented the Noble Heart award to Pascal Aebischer, Head of the Embassy Subdivision of the Swiss Confederation in Minsk.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of ministries and government agencies of Belarus, public and international organizations, diplomats and members of the media.
