MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – As of 9 April, Belarus performed more than 49,000 coronavirus tests, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.

“We carry out around 3,000 tests every day,” the press service said. The Robert Koch Institute (a German federal research institute for infectious and non-communicable diseases) noted that the growing number of positive tests is proportional to the growing number of performed tests. Fourteen laboratories are involved in testing in Belarus.

A total of 1,331 people remain in hospital. The majority of patients have mild or moderate symptoms. Fifty-five patients require assisted ventilation. Case conferences involving the country's leading specialists in infectious diseases and intensivists have been held.

A total of 139 people have recovered after getting treatment.

Belarus has already reported 16 coronavirus deaths. “Most of these patients suffered from numerous chronic diseases that were exacerbated by the coronavirus infection,” the press service of the Healthcare Ministry noted.
