Opera singer Ilona Bagele to perform at Days of Latvia in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Ilona Bagele, a famous opera singer from Latvia, will be a guest star of the Days of Latvia in Vitebsk celebrations in November, Sintija Paura, Consul-Head of the Latvian Consulate in Vitebsk, told reporters on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

The Days of Latvia in Vitebsk are a long- established tradition. “The program of the festival is in the works. I hope that the audience will like it. One of the artists to perform in Vitebsk will be Ilona Bagele with whom the local public is already familiar,” Sintija Paura said.

The diplomat took charge of the consulate in Vitebsk in August and is now getting familiar with the oblast capital. With a view to learning more about the local culture and promising projects in this field, the consul met with activists of the Vitebsk Culture Center and its director general Gleb Lapitsky who is also Director General of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk festival.

“The two countries have developed very friendly relations. It is important to keep them this way, therefore the consulate is determined to provide all kinds of support to it. The consulate is ready to undertake new interesting projects that would help expand ties and allow the two nations to learn more about each other’s cultures,” the consul underlined.

In 2019 the Days of Latvia in Vitebsk will be held at the end of November. The audience will be offered a great number of events, Gleb Lapitsky noted.
