New director general introduced to BelTA’s staff

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Belarus President's spokesperson Natalya Eismont introduced BelTA’s new Director General Irina Akulovich to the news agency’s personnel on 5 April, BelTA informs.

According to Natalya Eismont, the BelTA news agency will open a new page in its history with the new head.

“We need to strengthen our positions on all the fronts, and the latest personnel decisions in the Belarusian media sector show that we understand this. The internet is the area of your activity. I want to call upon you not to be afraid to try and make the best use of the advantages you have,” Natalya Eismont said.

She wished the staff of the agency and its new director general to keep going forward and strife for even greater success. “From now on, you have to go not by small steps, but by leaps and bounds. All our state-owned media got new leadership and improvements and qualitative changes are expected,” the spokesperson said.

Natalya Eismont stressed that Irina Akulovich has become the first woman to head Belarus’ biggest state-owned media.

Irina Akulovich noted for her part that today BelTA is known to every journalist, and a large number of other media are among its subscribers. The agency is also a major information provider for every Belarusian.

The new director general said that the main goal for BelTA, the same as for all other mass media in the country, is to promote consolidation of the society and the state, the sovereignty and independence of the country. “The things we write are of great importance. People in our country and abroad learn about Belarus first of all from the things journalists show and tell. Every one of us should understand the level of responsibility,” Irina Akulovich said.
