Moscow to host exhibition of Belarusian History Museum

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – The exhibition of the National History Museum of Belarus will open at the business and culture complex of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia (Moscow) on 2 July. It will showcase Belarus’ traditional material culture, BelTA learned from the museum.

Visitors of the exhibition Traditional Material Culture of Belarus will see the cultural landscape of Belarus. Six historical and ethnographic regions Lake District, the Dnieper area, Central Belarus, Western and Eastern Polesie, the Neman area have peculiar ethnic and cultural features, different traditional clothes, customs and rites.

The exhibition will feature several samples of traditional clothing as the brightest element of the Belarusian historical and cultural legacy. Since ancient times weaving has been one of the most popular household crafts in Belarus.

Belarusian artisans made various items using natural materials. The exposition will feature items made of straw. This a landmark handicraft of Belarus.

According to the representatives of the museum, the exhibition will help visitors realize that the authentic culture of Belarus has a special place in the global cultural legacy.

The exhibition has been organized by the company Japan Tobacco International in the Republic of Belarus. It will stay open till 22 September.
