More information points for tourists in Minsk

More information points for tourists in Minsk MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – There are plans to increase the number of information points for tourists in Minsk, BelTA has learned from Yelena Plis, Director of the Minsk tourist information center.

“Belarus launched a five-day visa-free entry on 12 February, which should help attract more tourists to the country. We are planning to open new information points in the city where the guests could learn more about Minsk and Belarus, map out their route, buy souvenirs, maps and guides”, said Elena Plis.

The Minsk tourist information center also intends to step up efforts to promote tourism potential of the city abroad. The work is underway in social networks: on Facebook, Instagram, VK, Odnoklassniki. Up-to-date information on upcoming events and tours is posted on the center’s website at minsktourism.by.

The guests have an opportunity to go sightseeing in Minsk in a double-decker. The Minsk city tour company offered four tours per day with audio-guides in eight languages: Belarusian, Russian, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Chinese. The tour lasts for 1 hour 40 minutes. Kids can watch a children’s channel with songs from cartoons. Last autumn a unique vehicle, a retro phaeton, specially designed and equipped for guided tours, was put on the streets of Minsk. A new season begins in May.

The Minsk urban transport company has also launched a new project. In buses that serve the routes 1 and 100 passengers can hear information in three languages: Russian, Belarusian and English. Urban transport is used as a way to go sightseeing at the price of a bus ticket.

Minsk tourist information center was established in 2005 to provide Minsk citizens and visitors with free information on historical and cultural sites, sporting, public and cultural events of Minsk, repertoire of theatres, museums, cinemas and galleries. Here travelers can book a room in a hotel or a tour around the city, buy souvenirs. The center issues advertising and information materials about the Belarusian capital: booklets, brochures, maps and guides, souvenirs, videos and multimedia presentations.
