Mogilev to host nationwide youth event on 8-9 February

MOGILEV, 20 January (BelTA) – The nationwide event “Mogilev - the Youth Capital of the Republic of Belarus” will be held on 8-9 will February 2018, BelTA learned from Yekaterina Muzychenko, the head of the main department for ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

The event will be attended by representatives of the authorities, leaders of youth organizations, young specialists, scientists, winners of international competitions among university students, artistic young people. The program will feature the youth forum, flash mobs, interactive platforms, master classes, and a ceremony to award the certificates for sightseeing tours around Minsk.

“The program will be filled with diverse activities in order to create a comfortable environment for youth, new ideas and innovative programs to involve youth in the political, economic and cultural life of Belarus. The ‘youth capital’ title will enable Mogilev to showcase itself in a new way, to show its best sides and to implement interesting projects and ideas,” Yekaterina Muzychenko noted.

The Youth Capital is a status which is awarded to the city based on the results of the nationwide competition for a period of one year. During this time the city gets an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the contemporary youth culture and to show the best practices in the promotion of social, economic, political activity of youth. The Youth Capital implements new ideas, innovative projects involving youth and becomes a role model for the further development of other cities.

The Youth Capital of Belarus contest is held for the third consecutive year. The first to win this honorary title was Baranovichi. In 2017 it was Polotsk. The event is organized and inspired by the Education Ministry.
