Minsk to host international summer school of Belarusian studies

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Minsk will be hosting the first edition of the international summer school of Belarusian studies from 25 August through 7 September. Over 70 participants from nine countries will gather in Minsk to discuss the language and cultural heritage of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State University (BSU).

The list of participants includes students from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, China, and Japan. They will take part in a number of communication events to analyze the linguistic, historical, and cultural heritage of Belarus.

The program of the school features Belarusian language lessons (phonetics, grammar, speaking and writing) and lectures on different aspects of the Belarusian language, history, and culture. The students will attend interactive lessons and workshops. Besides, they will visit the Red Church, the Holy Spirit Cathedral, the Nesvizh Palace, and other Belarusian sites.

Attending the opening ceremony of the summer school will be Rector of the Belarusian institute of higher education Viktor Gaisenok, BSU Deputy Rector for Education Alexei Danilchenko, Dean of the BSU Faculty of Philology Ivan Rovdo, and Chairman of the Belarusian committee of Slavic scholars Alexander Lukashanets.

The summer school has been organized by the youth policy department of the Belarusian institute of higher education and the BSU.
