Minsk to host international mediation fest on 17-18 May

MINSK,8 May (BelTA) - More than 250 people from different countries will take part in the third Minsk Mediation Fest to be hosted by the Johannes Rau International Education Center in Minsk and the Russian State Social University (Minsk branch), the organizers told BelTA.

The event will bring together mediators, conflictologists, psychologists, professors, lawyers and representatives of other professions specializing in the settlement of conflicts and disputes. Experts from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States will share their best practices. The festival will be an open discussion platform showcasing the best and emerging practices in conflict resolution and the starting point for new initiatives and projects.

The main thematic focus of the event is family and restorative mediation (modern practice and prospects). The aim is to unite the efforts of the public, government and commercial organizations to promote mediation in Belarus, strengthen international cooperation and to exchange experience.

Organizers are the Russian State Social University (Minsk branch), the Mediation and Law center and the Mediation and Negotiation Center.

Belarus adopted the law on mediation in 2013 to allow using mediation to resolve economic, labor and family disputes.
