Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2018 scheduled for 2-9 November

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – The Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will be held in the Belarusian capital on 2-9 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the forum.

Belarus’ biggest cinema event will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Today the festival is working on the competition program. Submissions are open till 9 September. The films from the countries of the former socialist camp – the festival’s focus region - will be screened from 2 to 9 November, the press service noted.

Every year the Listapad competition program features approximately 150 films from more than 50 countries. Out-of-competition programs include the most significant feature and documentary movies of the year honored at major international film festivals.

Listapad has been accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as a film festival of the Baltic countries, Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. As of last year Listapad is the event for the FIPRESCI award as well. Thus, Lіstapad is among the most prestigious film festivals such as a Berlin, Venice, Warsaw.

Over the years, the Minsk Film Festival Listapad has hosted such cinema celebrities as Fanny Ardant, Claire Denis, Andrei Zviagintsev, Emir Kusturica, Krzysztof Zanussi, Brillante Mendoza, Denis Cote, Sergei Loznitsa, and others. The annual festival attendance is over 40,000 people and over 100 guests from all over the world.

The industrial platform Bel:Cinema held as part of the festival is aimed at promoting networking between cinema professionals, exchange of experience, facilitating interaction between filmmakers and producers taking into account the specificity of the region.

Accreditation of film critics, journalists and bloggers is open till 30 September. Thanks to accreditation they will be able to take part in the festival events, to attend film screenings, to talk to guests and also to cover the festival promptly, to the fullest extent possible.

The founders of the festival are the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Minsk City Hall.
