Minsk Dinamo Stadium to host first competitions after renovations on 22 June

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Dinamo Stadium in Minsk will host its first official competitions on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

The stadium in Minsk will reopen after a major makeover with an athletics event between the teams of Belarus, Ukraine, Baltic and Balkan countries. The tournament will be a testing event ahead of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019.

Taking part in the forthcoming competitions will be well-known Belarusian athletes, medalists of the European, world championships, and the Olympic Games. Athletes will include javelin thrower Tatiana Kholodovich, hurdler Alina Talay, and hammer thrower Ivan Tikhon.

Dinamo Stadium has been under renovation for six years. The main building works will complete on 31 May. The country’s main sport arena got new stands, lighting equipment, and synthetic covering. The stadium can now host competitions of the highest level.

The stadium capacity will exceed 22,200 seats. The press section has been re-designed to accommodate more than 800 journalists.

Dinamo Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 and also the athletic competitions of the Games that will be running in the Belarusian capital from 21 to 30 June 2019.
