Minsk announces diverse program for Belarus’ Independence Day celebrations on 2-3 July

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) - More than 30 major cultural events dedicated to the Independence Day will be held in Minsk on 2-3 July, Pavel Skalaban, the head of the city’s directorate for ideology, culture and youth affairs, said today at the meeting in the Minsk City Hall on 25 June, BelTA has learned.

The program on 2 July will feature the Vyshyvanka Day and the sports festival near the Palace of Sports and an official meeting and a concert in the Palace of the Republic.

The central event on 3 July will be the parade by the Minsk garrison troops and a theatrical performance My Rodny Kut (My Homeland) (10.00) near the Minsk Hero City Stele. A gala concert “Belarus my only motherland” will begin at 21.00 and will culminate in the traditional event “Let’s Sing the Anthem Together” (22.55).

The main concert venues on the Independence Day will be the Sports Palace grounds and the Upper Town. Concerts and festivals of art will be held in all districts of the city. The evening will end with a festive fireworks display.

As it was reported, all in all, the Independence Day program includes more than 100 events. The full program is available on the website of the Minsk City Hall. The Independence Day celebrations include sports and and entertainment activities such as the international tournament of strongmen, sailing, athletics and martial arts events. The Park of the 900th anniversary of Minsk will host a children's cycling quest, street races near Chizhovka Arena. The program also features a bike ride around the memorable places of Minsk, quest games, master-classes, motor parade Victory, the festival of kettlebell lifting, and many others.
