Marc Chagall’s art named main theme of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk’s opening ceremony

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – Marc Chagall’s art will be the main theme during the opening ceremony of the international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Culture Minister Irina Driga on 3 May.

According to the source, the 130th anniversary since Marc Chagall’s birthday is one of the key dates in the festival’s program. Following the established tradition, the opening concert will be magnificent. It will feature Belarusian and foreign popular performers and young talent. “Belarus is the land where talented people are born and the land that attracts talented people. New stars rise up thanks to Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. This is the key message of the concert,” said Irina Driga.

A concert dedicated to milestone events and the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be arranged. This year the famous Belarusian music band Syabry celebrates an anniversary. This is why the concert will become the evening when People’s Artist of Belarus Anatoly Yarmolenko and the legendary band meet. People of art, who have contributed to stronger Belarusian-Russian friendship and allied relations, will also be represented during the concert.

The formats of the international pop song contest and the junior song contest will not be changed. Irina Driga wished every success to Belarus’ representatives Yegor Sharankov and Maria Magilnaya, who have been working hard to prepare for the contests.

Youth Day will feature interesting projects, too. Apart from the art parade of subcultures that fans have come to know and love a gala concert of patriotic songs will be arranged as well as an interactive exposition Belarus — the Wellspring of Inspiration.

The international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will feature a total of 18 concert programs. The organizers promise concerts by Italian pop singers and artists from Georgia and Ukraine. A concert of winners of international contests, which are members of the World Festival Association, will take place.

The closing ceremony will be titled as “Vitebsk, I love you!”. Following the established tradition, top prizes of the festival will be awarded and winners will be recognized.

The 26th international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is scheduled to take place on 13-17 July 2017. Auxiliary events will take place on 10-12 July and 18-19 July.
