Lukashenko promises to respond to Brigitte Bardot’s letter

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko promised to respond to a letter from Brigitte Bardot who inquired about animal welfare in Belarus as he spoke to representatives of the Russian media on 14 December, BelTA has learned.

“Indeed, I have received a letter from Brigitte Bardot. We are preparing an answer. Brigitte Bardot is an outstanding person and has raised a very important issue,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

When asked about the situation with euthanizing of stray animals in Minsk, the head of state said that he would study the matter in detail. In any case, it is unacceptable to take a formal approach to such a topic as animal euthanasia, the president said.

“Dumping healthy animals on streets or making them die is terrible. All these stray animals are our shame. We have created this problem. We will be dealing with this problem forever until we change our attitudes and become more responsible ,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
