Lida Castle Sword festival to gather knights from four countries

GRODNO, 12 June (BelTA) – the medieval festival, Lida Castle Sword, will take place in Lida on 28 June, BelTA learnt from the Lida District Folk Art Center.

The events will take place on the territory of Lida Castle. Partaking in the event will be reenactment clubs from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, and Ukraine.

The event will start with a theatrical performance telling about the history of Lida Castle. Medieval tournaments and battles will include buhurts and bastard swords.

The program of the festival will comprise a performance of the Minsk medieval music band Hardwood, master classes in smithery and pottery by Lida famous craftsmen.

In the evening Lida Castle will host the final individual and team competitions and a concert of Pawa band.

The feast will feature a children’s playground, retail trade stalls and the town of craftsmen. Adults will be offered to play medieval games, throw hammers and javelins, learn medieval dancing styles.

The festival will be wrapped up by spectacular fireworks.
