Ideas of young designers incorporated in Belarus team outfit for WFYS in Sochi

BREST, 12 October (BelTA) - Ideas of young designers from Baranovichi have been used in the design of opening ceremony outfits for the Belarusian delegation at the World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi, BelTA learned from the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

Maria Podorska, a teacher at the Chernyshev Baranovichi College of Light Industry, and fourth-year student Veronika Vashkevich participated in the contest to design outfits for the Belarusian delegates at the festival. “We developed about 40 sketches. We would send them for approval and then make adjustments,” Maria Podorska said.

“When designing the opening ceremony outfits we were guided by the outfits made by famous Belarusian designers Ivan Aiplatov and Yulia Latushkina. They were in shades of grey. We added a little bit of color to make the national symbols more visible and suggested inserting elements of the national ornaments in trousers and bomber jackets. We also suggested using a combination of knitting and rain wear fabric, added the sign ‘Belarus’ on the back of the jacket,” Maria Podorska said.

The proposals of the Baranovichi designers have been incorporated in the design of the Belarusian opening ceremony outfits for the festival. The authors of the ideas were included into the list of participants in the forum from Brest Oblast. “It was great to receive such a reward for your efforts. The festival is about uniting the youth and developing friendship between nations. We will share our experience and are ready to learn from others. We are going to take an active part in all the events of the festival,” noted Maria Podorska.

The Brest Oblast delegation at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi will comprise students and working youth, leaders of the BRSM Youth Union, including winners of the oblast, national and international festivals and competitions, members of public associations and volunteers. The participation of the delegation in the forum is supported by the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and its main department for ideology, culture and youth affairs.
