Greatest art collection in history on screen in Minsk 25-26 December

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Minsk residents and guests are invited on a guided virtual tour of the Vatican museums. The Tsentralny Cinema House will host screenings of the film The Vatican Museums 3D on 25 and 26 December, BelTA learned from the film distribution company Kinovideoprokat of the Minsk City Hall.

The film presents to the viewers the most striking works of art collected by the Popes for over 500 years. These include sculptures by Michelangelo Buonarroti and Lucio Fontana, paintings by Giotto di Bondone, Leonardo da Vinci, Merisi da Caravaggio, van Gogh, Marc Chagall, and Salvador Dali, extraordinary frescos by Raphael and the Sistine Chapel ceiling painted by Michelangelo. Director of the Vatican Museums, Professor Antonio Paolucci, will expertly lead the viewers through the past, present and future of the Vatican Museums.

The greatest art collection in history will be showcased in 3D. For the very first time Ultra HD 4K/3D cameras filmed inside the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. The technology is used by directors like James Cameron and Tim Burton.

The film took four months to shoot. More than 40 frescos and paintings were filmed using the 3D technology. The spectacular camera angles let the viewers “enter” the work of art. The film was shot by a team of more than 40 Italian professionals who covered no less than 3,000 kilometers in the marvelous setting of the corridors and rooms of one of the world’s most visited museums.
