Gomel to host Golden Lynx international freestyle wrestling tournament

GOMEL, 17 March (BelTA) – Gomel will host the ninth edition of the junior freestyle wrestling tournament Golden Lynx on 26-28 March, BelTA learnt from the organizers of the event.

Partaking in the tournament will be over 200 young sportsmen born in 1998-1999 from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan and Belarus.

The competition will be held at Gomel specialized school of Olympic reserve for children and youth No.8 and at Skleznev school No.2 of Gomel. The winners will be awarded diplomas and medals.

Gomel hosts the Golden Lynx tournament every year with a view to promoting freestyle wrestling among young people, strengthening and developing ties between sportsmen of the CIS and non-CIS countries. The event was first held in 2006. A total of 100 athletes from four countries took part in the competitions. The number of participants increases every year.

The Golden Lynx tournament is organized by the Gomel City Hall, the Gomel specialized school of Olympic reserve for children and youth No.8, the sports center for children and youth Golden Lynx, and the department of education, sports and tourism of the Novobelitsky District of Gomel.
